Carla Hanzal, former curator of modern and contemporary art at the Mint Museum, will join the Arts & Science Council on Monday as vice president for public art.
Hanzal is an arts consultant and on the national board of the International Sculpture Center. She was instrumental in helping the board of Charlotte’s Light Factory create a new strategic plan.
At the Mint Museum from 2002 to 2012, she curated 40 exhibitions and managed its public art projects.
Public arts projects are managed by ASC and paid for with a 1 percent assessment of construction costs. Hanzal has a bachelor of arts degree from Hastings College and a master of art administration from American University.
