Power outage on Beatties Ford Road at I-85
Two power outages affected 4,500 Duke Energy customers in Charlotte Thursday morning.
Power is still out to about 1,500 customers along Beatties Ford Road at Interstate 85.
The traffic signals near the busy intersection at Beatties Ford Road and I-85 were without power.
It could be two or three hours before power is restored to the signals, police said at 8 a.m. They urged motorists to avoid the area.
The outage stemmed from a circuit breaker issue on Sunset Road, Observer news partner WBTV reported.
Earlier Thursday, about 3,000 customers near Providence Road West lost power when a tree fell and knocked power lines onto the road.
Providence Road West was closed for hours between Johnston Road and Lancaster Highway as crews worked to remove the lines and tree.
