Sunshine, mild temperatures expected for pleasant holiday travel around Charlotte

Blue skies and temperatures befitting a Thanksgiving holiday are expected this week in the Charlotte region.

Monday is expected to be the most winter-like day of the week, with chilly, predawn temperatures in the 20s for the morning commute.

Monday’s high is expected to reach 49 degrees, with lots of sunshine and a frosty nighttime low of about 30, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures are expected to climb slightly during the week with more sunshine. Tuesday’s high is expected to be 54 with a low of about 32.

Wednesday will be one of the busiest travel days of the year, and a high temperature of 55 should create a nice backdrop for a late-fall getaway. Wednesday’s low is expected to be around 38.

Get the turkey in the oven early Thursday to help warm the house from that overnight low. By the time dinner is on the table it should be much warmer. Thursday’s high is expected to reach a pleasant 59 degrees with a partly sunny sky before a drop to a low of about 46.

A light jacket should be all that’s needed for a shopping trip on Black Friday, when the high is expected to reach about 64 degrees with a partly sunny sky. The low is expected to be about 50.

There’s a 30 percent chance of rain in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday. Both days are expected to be mostly cloudy. The high is expected to be near 64 Saturday and near 54 Sunday.
