Pedestrian dies after crash near downtown Rock Hill

The York County Coroner’s Office has identified the pedestrian killed in a Wednesday night crash near downtown Rock Hill.

Larry Darnell Kennedy, 61, of Rock Hill, was hit by a sport utility vehicle on Dave Lyle Boulevard near the White Street intersection about 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Few details about the crash were available, but Lance Cpl. Tony Keller said Kennedy was taken to Piedmont Medical Center, where he died.

The driver, a 53-year-old York, S.C., woman, and her 21-year-old passenger both were wearing seat belts and were not injured.

There was no word on charges, and the crash remains under investigation.
