Cable, Internet outages reported across NC
Time Warner Cable customers across North Carolina experienced problems with cable and Internet service on Sunday.
At its peak, about 20,000 customers were without cable service, according to downdetector.com, a site that tracks internet service outages.
The company posted about the delay around 6 p.m. Sunday on a Twitter feed used to help customers with service problems.
“Customers in the Carolinas, we are currently working on resolving an issue causing service problems. No (estimated time of restoration) at this time.”
The post didn’t stop dozens from inquiring why their cable and Internet services weren’t working.
The company posted around 7 p.m. that services appeared to be coming back online and that the cause was still being investigated. Company officials believe an issue with a router affected cable, Internet and phone services. The issue affected people across North Carolina and South Carolina, but didn’t knock out cable to entire cities or towns, as was widely reported on social media.
“We apologize for the service interruption affecting many of our customers in the Carolinas this evening,” said Scott Pryzwansky, a spokesman for the cable company. “Our engineers have been working to restore all service as quickly as possible.”
