Warm weather surrendering to winter on New Year’s Day
This pleasant period of temperatures running 15 to 20 degrees higher than normal will be gone by the end of the week, with winter expected to flex its chilly muscles on New Year’s Day.
Between now and then, expect rain, lots of rain. Chances are 70 to 100 percent through Thursday.
New Year’s Eve will have a high of 62 and a low of 43, while New Year’s Day will be a good 10 degrees lower for both the high and low.
The highest temperature of the week will be 70 degrees on Tuesday. Expect highs in the mid to lower 50s for the remainder of the week and into next week.
When the cold arrives on Friday, the region will be dry, but should see night time lows from 27 to 30 degrees for five days.
Things will warm slightly on Tuesday of next week. However, even then the high will be only 55 degrees, with a low of 34 degrees.
