Impaired driver dies in north Charlotte wreck
Police said an impaired driver died after he was thrown from his car in a wreck on Eastfield Road in north Charlotte on Wednesday.
Keith Andrew Hepburn, 24, was speeding when he lost control of his Ford Taurus, police said. The car crossed into the oncoming lane and hit a Kia Sorento. Hepburn was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.
Medic took Hepburn to Carolinas Medical Center, where he died. Authorities did not say how he was impaired.
The Kia’s 79-year-old driver was taken to Carolinas HealthCare System Huntersville with non-life-threatening injuries.
The wreck happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. in the 14000 block of Eastfield Road, at Simonton Drive near Highland Creek Parkway.
