Fire damaged a longtime Mooresville eatery on Saturday morning.

Initial reports are that a grease fire started in the kitchen of Fat Boys Restaurant and Catering at about 11:30 a.m., according to WBTV, the Observer’s news partner.

Fat Boys , at Interstate 77 Exit 36, is known for its down-home Southern cooking. It has served real pit barbecue since 1967, along with seafood and charbroiled steaks.

It is unknown how long the restaurant will be closed.
