Grease and rags cause sewage spill into Sugar Creek

Grease and rags blocked a sewer line and caused 3,000 gallons of sewage to spill into Sugar Creek on Thursday, Charlotte Water spokesman Cam Coley said.

The spill happened in the 700 block of Edgegreen Drive, off Nations Ford Road.

Sugar Creek is in the Catawba River Watershed.

Coley said anything put in plumbing or a manhole can cause such overflows. Joe Marusak
