2,200 Duke customers in dark after tree falls on lines in Ballantyne area
A tree fell on Duke Energy power lines along Johnston Road in the Ballantyne community Tuesday afternoon, knocking out electricity to 2,200 customers, a Duke spokesman said.
The power should be restored by 7 p.m., the spokesman said.
The tree fell on wires near Interstate 485 and Johnston just before 3 p.m. The outages were first reported at 2:52 p.m., the spokesman said.
“As long as (repair crews) don’t run into any issues, the power should be restored by 7 p.m.,” he said. “So far, no issues have arisen.” David Perlmutt
