Thursday should warm to above normal in Charlotte

After a chilly start, Thursday should end up unseasonably warm under sunny skies.

The temperature at Charlotte Douglas International Airport stood at 28 degrees at 5 a.m. and 30 degrees at 6 a.m.

But the mercury should reach a high of 56 by afternoon, or 6 degrees above the normal high.

Rain will move into the region on Friday, and the high is forecast to drop to 48, according to the National Weather Service in Greer, S.C.

The chance of rain is 90 percent during the day Friday and 70 percent at night.

Then the rain should leave the region. Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high of 54.

Saturday night and Sunday could turn cloudy again, but with only a slight chance of showers.

Martin Luther King Day can expect mostly sun.

Temperatures will likely drop again on Sunday, with a high of only 45 expected.

Monday could turn even colder, with a high of only 37 forecast. And Tuesday won’t be much warmer, with a high of 38 expected.

Wednesday could warm up a bit, to a high of 44.
