Man killed in head-on crash on Hickory Grove Road in east Charlotte

A Charlotte man was killed Friday afternoon when his car crossed a double yellow line in the 5100 block of Hickory Grove Road in east Charlotte and collided head-on with another car.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say drugs or alcohol was involved in the incident that killed 54-year-old Nathan Tyler Doster.

Doster, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was driving a 1997 Honda Accord westbound on Hickory Grove, when it crossed the line and struck a 1999 Jeep Cherokee driven by Edwin Armando Rodriguez head-on near Valleyview Drive. Medic pronounced Doster dead at the scene.

Rodriguez was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with minor injuries.
