Chance of snow remains for Charlotte Sunday morning
Charlotte still has a shot at snow Sunday morning, but little or no accumulation is expected, said Bill Martin, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Greer, S.C.
A rain-snow mixture is more likely, Martin said Saturday afternoon. The chance of morning precipitation is 50 percent. Any snow would appear around 7 a.m., he said, but temperatures will be too warm for it to stick to the ground for long.
No snow should be around by the 1:05 p.m. start of the Carolina Panthers playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks at Bank of America Stadium, according to the latest weather service forecast.
A slight chance of rain will remain between noon and 1 p.m., followed by clouds and then sun, with a high of 45 expected
In the N.C. mountains, up to 2 inches of snow are expected to fall between 2 a.m. and noon Sunday, including in Banner Elk, Burnsville, Spruce Pine, Waynesville and Lake Junaluska. Up to an inch is forecast for mountain valleys.
Lesser accumulations are forecast east of the mountains. At Hickory Regional Airport, less than a 10th of an inch was forecast for Saturday night and less than a half-inch Sunday.
Only “a dusting” of snow is expected in the Statesville area between 5 and 10 a.m. Sunday “and hardly anything for Mooresville,” said Doug Outlaw, another meteorologist at the weather service in Greer.
