Red Cross recruiting volunteers to install smoke alarms on Saturday

The Charlotte Metro Red Cross chapter is recruiting 10 volunteers to install smoke alarms in homes and educate residents about fire prevention and escape plans.

The neighborhood canvassing happens Saturday, 1-4 p.m. Volunteers will leave together from the Sadie Fowler Education and Disaster Operations Center, at 2401 Park Road.

Experience is not required, and training will be provided on-site. To register, contact Brad Newcomb at Brad.Newcomb2@redcross.org.

This event is part of an ongoing campaign by the American Red Cross to reduce deaths and injuries caused by home fires by 25 percent.
