Neighbor: Elderly man accidentally run over by wife in west Charlotte

A man is being treated for injuries after police say he was accidentally run over near a home in west Charlotte.

The accident occurred Tuesday morning in the 5800 block of Tuckaseegee Road.

A neighbor told WBTV, the Observer’s news partner, that an older couple lived at the home and the man was opening the gate for his wife.

According to Medic, the man was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

A neighbor says the female driver was shaken up after the accident, and said she had been unable to see her husband. The woman was on the way to the hospital to be with her husband, a friend said.

Several neighbors said the couple had been married for decades.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police remained at the house taking pictures and marking the accident scene until after 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Police initially said the man suffered serious injuries, but no official condition has been released.
