Charlotte Catholic placed on lock down after nearby bank robbery

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the man who robbed the Fifth Third Bank at 7530 Pineville-Matthews Road on Thursday.

Nearby Charlotte Catholic High was placed on lock down as police investigated the robbery.

The bank was robbed about 10:45 a.m. by a man who handed an employee a note demanding money, police said.

The robber is about 5-feet-7-inches tall and of medium build. He wore a gray sweatshirt and sweatpants.

Anyone with information about the robber is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
