Bessemer City woman dies in wreck on I-85 in Gastonia

A 41-year-old Bessemer City woman died early Saturday when she lost control of her car on Interstate 85 in Gastonia, police said.

Erika Renee Gilmore was southbound in a 2004 Honda Accord that went off the right side of the highway at about 2:15 a.m., struck a tree and overturned, police said. Gilmore was not wearing a seat belt, police said.

Anyone who saw Gilmore in the hours before the wreck or has more information is asked to call Gastonia police Officer J.R. Ewers at 704-866-6702.
