Charlotte region under flash flood watch until 7 p.m. Wednesday
The Charlotte region is under a flash flood watch until 7 p.m. Wednesday, as a line of thunderstorms sweeps east across the Foothills and Piedmont Wednesday afternoon.
Torrential rainfall will accompany the line, likely producing 2 to 4 inches of rain in one to two hours, according to the National Weather Service in Greer, S.C.
Already by 1 p.m., standing water covered parts of key roads in central Charlotte, including East Boulevard in Dilworth.
