1st CVS pharmacies in Target stores open in Charlotte and Raleigh markets

The first CVS pharmacies in Target stores have opened in the Charlotte and Raleigh markets, CVS and Target announced Wednesday.

The Charlotte-area pharmacies are in Hickory, Monroe, Matthews and Wesley Chapel.

The pharmacies are being operated through a store-within-a-store format and are branded as CVS Pharmacy. CVS and Target executives will hold a grand opening celebration Wednesday morning at the Target store on Weddington Road in Wesley Chapel.

CVS Health plans to convert 1,672 Target pharmacies to CVS Pharmacy locations around the country over the next six to eight months.

In December, CVS Health acquired all Target pharmacies and retail clinics across 47 states. A CVS Pharmacy will be included in all new Target stores that offer pharmacy services, and Target clinic locations will be rebranded as CVS MinuteClinic over the next six to eight months.
