Mount Holly police search for hit-and-run driver

Mount Holly police are searching for the driver of a Ford pickup truck that hit a pedestrian near the intersection of South Main and Rose streets on Tuesday night.

The victim, Gerald Scott Meggs, 67, of Mount Holly, was in critical condition Wednesday at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Meggs appeared to have been crossing South Main Street toward the Citgo on Tuckaseegee Road when he was hit by a pickup traveling north on South Main, police said. Meggs was hit shortly after 8 p.m.

The 2004-2008 pickup might have damage to its passenger side mirror, police said.
