Search on for big rig involved in fatal I-77 hit-and-run in Chester County
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is looking for a heavy truck thought to have been involved in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 77 that killed one man and injured another.
The incident happened at about 3:45 a.m. Monday near Richburg in Chester County, according to Lance Cpl. Gary Miller.
A tractor-trailer truck and an SUV were traveling north when the tractor-trailer apparently hit the smaller vehicle, sending it into the median, where it overturned, authorities said.
A passenger who was not wearing a seatbelt was killed, and the driver was hospitalized.
The patrol said the commercial truck continued north toward Charlotte on I-77.
Troopers are searching for a purple truck with damage to the right front fender and perhaps the wheel well.
