Buses collide at Coulwood Middle School in Charlotte

Two school buses collided at Coulwood Middle School on Tuesday morning.

One student aboard one of the buses was taken to the hospital, apparently as a precaution, a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools spokeswoman said.

The buses were on their final routes at the time, CMS spokeswoman Yaviri Escalera said.

The school is on Kentberry Drive, between Interstate 485 Inner Loop and Brookshire Boulevard.

Nineteen students were aboard bus No. 794, and 21 students were aboard bus No. 1689 when they collided.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police reported the wreck about 8 a.m. Details were unavailable Tuesday.
