Hundreds were left without heat when a gas line was cut in north Charlotte Friday evening.
The incident happened around 8 p.m. near the intersection of Wilbrook Drive and Highland Creek Parkway in the Highland Creek neighborhood.
Officials with Piedmont Natural Gas told WBTV that a sub-contractor for Google Fiber hit a 2-inch plastic gas line, cutting off service to approximately 288 customers.
The repair to the line was expected to be finished by 11 p.m. However, Piedmont Natural Gas officials said they could be working through the night to restore service to homes.

When the gas line was cut it was 35 degrees in Charlotte. The temperature is expected to drop below freezing overnight.
