Charlotte traffic: Queens Road southbound lanes closed

The southbound lanes of Queens Road at Henley Place are closed and barricaded because of a massive tree in the road.

The tree toppled onto the road during severe storms in the Charlotte region Wednesday.

Crews were able to open the northbound lanes Wednesday night, police said.

The southbound lanes are expected to remain closed through Thursday morning’s commute.

At 7:50 a.m. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have responded to an injury wreck on West W.T. Harris Boulevard at David Cox Road in University City.

Police also are at wrecks on The Plaza at East W.T. Harris Boulevard, on University City Boulevard at the Interstate 485 ramp, on Albemarle Road at Beaver Farms Road and on West Boulevard at Piney Top Drive.
