A man was struck and killed on the Inner Loop of Interstate 485 early Sunday after he stopped to help a woman whose tire had blown out.
North Carolina Highway Patrol confirms that 26-year-old Alastair Teguiin was killed when trying to help a woman with a blown tire.
His body was found on the I-485 inner loop near exit 33 between U.S. 29 and University City Boulevard in northeast Charlotte.
The trooper says that Teguiin stopped his car in front of the woman's car. He got out and started asking her what was wrong. That's when the van hit him.
The driver of the van left with troopers to complete a blood test and see if drugs were a factor. At this point of the investigation, alcohol has been ruled out as a cause for the accident.
Troopers are investigating the crash.
