Train kills woman on bridge

Norfolk Southern officials say five people were standing on a railroad bridge in Forsyth County on Saturday when a train came through, killing one person and critically injuring another.

The crew of the westbound Norfolk Southern train with three locomotives and 113 rail cars put on emergency brakes, but it can take a loaded train up to a mile to stop.

Officials said 51-year-old Karen Harlow was killed and 37-year-old Aleyn William Griswold was in critical condition at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Both are from Greensboro. Two other adults and the child got off the bridge safely.
