Tuesday should continue the Charlotte region’s first swing into true spring-like temperatures, with a forecast high of 74 under mostly sunny skies.
Wednesday could be even warmer, with a high of 76 expected, followed by highs of 74 Thursday and 76 Friday.
Tuesday’s normal high is 60.
Credit the above-normal temperatures to a high pressure system forecast to persist over the region through Thursday.
A relative cold front will gradually approach the Carolinas from the northwest Friday, bringing increased chances for showers and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service in Greer, S.C.
Temperatures are expected to drop a few degrees over the weekend with a 40 percent chance of rain Saturday and 50 percent chance Saturday night.
The chance of rain is forecast to drop back to 40 percent Sunday and 30 percent Monday.
Despite the chance of showers, highs are expected to stay in the low 70s over the weekend.
