Ric Elias, CEO and co-founder of Red Ventures, has “flash funded” all of the classroom projects requested by teachers in Mecklenburg County on DonorsChoose.org.

Elias’ donation was part of #BestSchoolDay, a surprise philanthropic flash mob of more than 60 celebrities, business leaders and athletes to assist teachers and students across America.

A total of at least $14 million was committed to classrooms across the country.

Elias funded 210 projects at 109 schools in Mecklenburg County and 70 projects in Lancaster County, S.C. The total amount of money he donated wasn’t released.

Red Ventures is an Internet sales and marketing firm headquartered just south of Charlotte.

In February, Mecklenburg County agreed to give $170,000 to Red Ventures over the next five years to help the company with its plans to bring 500 new jobs to Charlotte.

County commissioners voted 6-3 to approve the county’s portion of a tax incentives package the company, headquartered south of Ballantyne in Indian Land, S.C., wanted in return for growing its operations here.

Red Ventures plans to lease new space in University Research Park and invest more than $5 million in building improvements and equipment.
