100 Charlotte Water customers lose service after pipe damaged Friday morning
About 100 Charlotte Water customers lost service Friday morning after a contractor accidentally hit a drinking-water pipe in the Steelechase Drive-Sandy Porter Road area.
The area is off Interstate 485 Outer Loop south of Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Crews had to replace the pipe, but the work was taking longer because the pipe was so damaged, Charlotte Water spokesman Cam Coley said at 6:45 a.m.
Bottled water was made available at neighborhood entrances for those affected, Coley said.
Water service was restored at about noon.
