Temperatures are cooling a bit after Wednesday’s record high of 86 degrees in the Charlotte region.
The previous record high of 83 was set in 1945.
Thursday’s high is expected to reach 76 under sunny skies.
Highs are then forecast to fall to 70 Friday, 58 Saturday and 53 Sunday.
A chance of rain accompanies the lower weekend temperatures.
Saturday has a 30 percent chance of showers, Saturday night a 60 percent chance and Sunday a 50 percent chance, according to the National Weather Service in Greer, S.C.
The sun should return on Monday, with a forecast high of 57.
The normal high for this week is about 62 degrees.
