The one-mile Relatives Safe Place Walk to raise awareness of Safe Place will be held at 10 a.m. March 19 at Freedom Park. Safe Place provides immediate help and resources for teens in need of shelter or support. Register for the walk online at www.therelatives.org until 6 p.m. March 18, or in person at 9 a.m. the day of the walk.
The event is free but donations are welcome. The walk concludes with a community festival until 2 p.m. at The Relatives Crisis Center, 1100 East Blvd.
Currently there are 180 Safe Place sites and 336 mobile sites including CATS buses and other public transportation in Charlotte and the surrounding area. Safe Place locations include businesses, churches, schools, transportation services or other organizations who display the yellow and black “Safe Place” sign. Courtney McLaughlin
