Several wrecks blocked lanes on Charlotte area interstates Thursday morning and have since been cleared.

A wreck at 9:20 a.m. closed the right ramp lane from Interstate 485 Inner Loop to I-85 west of Charlotte.

Earlier, a wreck closed the median shoulder in both directions north of I-77 Davidson Exit 30.

Meanwhile, a wreck temporarily closed the left lane of northbound Brookshire Boulevard (N.C. 16) at the I-85 interchange. And wrecks snarled traffic on I-77 southbound, at the John Belk Freeway and the Brookshire Freeway.

Emergency crews responded to a three-vehicle wreck on I-77 southbound just north of Exit 23, Gilead Road, in Huntersville. The right lane was closed for several hours, reopening at 6 a.m.

The wreck included an overturned vehicle, and one patient was taken to the hospital, according to the Huntersville Fire Department.

In Charlotte, Matheson Avenue at The Plaza was closed after a vehicle traveling at least 100 mph slammed into a tree, according to WBTV, the Observer’s news partner. The driver was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, the station reported.

About 6:30 a.m., a car went under an 18-wheeler in a wreck on N.C. 3 (Coddle Creek Highway) at Johnson Dairy Road near Mooresville, WBTV reported. Drivers should avoid the area.
