Charlotte traffic: I-85 southbound congested near Belmont due to a crash
Interstate 85 southbound near the Belmont-Mount Holly Road exit is congested Friday afternoon due to a crash.
The wreck happened shortly before 1 p.m. The shoulder is closed, according to the state Department of Transportation.
I-85 southbound could remain congested until about 3 p.m., highway officials said.
Late Friday morning, Interstate 77 northbound was closed in Huntersville after a multi-vehicle wreck north of Exit 23, Gilead Road.
Huntersville firefighters urged motorists to avoid the area.
The wreck happened shortly before 11:30 a.m.
Firefighters reported the scene was cleared by 12:10 p.m. but that drivers will encounter congestion.
