Person killed, another injured in motorcycle crash in Statesville
One person was killed and another seriously injured in a crash involving a motorcycle on Interstate 40 west of Statesville on Saturday.
The wreck happened just before 3:30 p.m. at mile marker 144, near the Old Mountain Road exit. Officials said the wreck also involved another vehicle. The injured person was hospitalized with severe injuries.
No names have been released.
Investigators have not said what caused the crash or if any charges were being filed.
The wreck shut the two westbound lanes until after 6 p.m., causing major traffic backups.
