1 dead after incident at Pineville industrial property
One person was fatally injured at an industrial facility in the 1100 block of Culp Road in Pineville.
The person apparently became trapped on the property, Medic reported. The victim was treated at the scene and transported to Carolinas Medical Center. The patient did not survive, according to Medic.
The identity of the deceased has not been released. Details about the circumstances that led to the injuries have not been made public.
The injury happened at Erdle Perforating Co., which designs and manufactures perforated metal products such as airbags, exhaust components, and interior panels. The company is based in Rochester, N.Y., according to its website, and has a plant in Pineville just off Westinghouse Boulevard.
Several employees were at the Pineville site late Sunday, but employees declined to speak about the incident, directing questions to company executives. No one answered calls or returned a message at the company’s listed number late Sunday.
The plant on Westinghouse Boulevard has a brick front but is mostly encased in sheet metal. Investigators from the N.C. Occupational Safety & Health Division and from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department did not appear to be at the scene, and authorities have not released a narrative of what happened.
