Showers likely through Tuesday afternoon
Showers are likely to continue through Tuesday afternoon in the Charlotte region.
The chance of rain stands at 70 percent, mainly before 5 p.m.
A quarter- to a half-inch of rain could fall Tuesday morning and afternoon.
A cold front crossed the Tennessee Valley and reached Western North Carolina early Tuesday and is expected to push through the Foothills and Piedmont through the day.
Tuesday could reach only 67 degrees, about 4 degrees below normal.
Temperatures are expected to continuing dropping through the work week, with expected highs of 62 Wednesday, 63 Thursday and 64 Friday.
At least the rain is expected to begin moving out Tuesday night, with partly to mostly sunny skies called for the rest of the week. Friday could turn cloudy, but no rain is forecast.
Temperatures should rise again over the weekend. Saturday could see a high of 67, Sunday 72 and Monday 78.
