Two shot near uptown and taken to CMC with serious injuries

Two people were shot Friday night and taken to Carolinas Medical Center with serious wounds, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said.

The shooting took place about 9:50 p.m. in the 1400 block of Oaklawn Avenue, at the intersection with Burton Street just north of uptown, police said. Medic tweeted that the two people faced life-threatening injuries.

Details on the shootings are sketchy. Police have not released names, or what may have caused the incident. David Perlmutt
