Woman, 22, fatally shot during argument in east Charlotte
A Charlotte woman was fatally shot late Friday during a heated argument between several people in east Charlotte.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said 22-year-old Jasmin Rena Flores died at Novant Presbyterian Hospital, where she’d been taken with a gunshot wound. She died in the emergency room shortly after arriving, police said.
Investigators said that “an altercation” began in the 1700 block of Darbrook Drive and shots were fired. Police were called to the scene at 10:10 p.m. and were met by several people, one of whom fired a weapon.
That man, whom police have not identified, was voluntarily taken to police headquarters for questioning.
Saturday morning, police were still working to establish relationships between the people involved in the argument and Flores.
Detectives scoured the area near Central Avenue for witnesses. They have not said what caused the argument, or if the man who fired the gun was involved in the fatal shooting.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident should call 704-432-TIPS, or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
