Charlotte expected to hit 83 degrees Tuesday
The Charlotte area could hit an above-normal high of 83 degrees under mostly sunny skies Tuesday.
The normal high for April 26 is 74.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday should continue the higher-than normal streak with an expected high of 84 each day, according to the National Weather Service in Greer, S.C.
Temperatures should moderate to a high of 78 Saturday, 77 Sunday and near 80 Monday, according to the latest NWS forecast.
Wednesday has a slim, 20 percent chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, and Thursday has a 30 percent chance.
The greatest chance for rain is Sunday and Monday, with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms both days.
The U.S. Drought Monitor classifies the Charlotte area and most other areas of the state as “abnormally dry.” That’s the lowest of the five drought stages.
