Elderly Union County man killed in heavy machinery incident
An 83-year-old Union County man suffered fatal injuries Wednesday after working with heavy machinery, police said.
Wilmeth Watson may have been trying to start the engine of a backhoe or bulldozer when he was hurt around 11:15 a.m off Highway 601, near Monroe, said Tony Underwood, spokesman for the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
Police released no further details.
