Collision involving tractor-trailer leaves 1 dead in southwest Charlotte

One person died after a tractor-trailer and a car collided at Steele Creek Road and Hamilton Road in the Steele Creek area of southwest Charlotte on Monday morning.

Todd Greene, 48, was driving a 2001 Honda Accord northbound on Steele Creek Road when it crossed the double yellow line and struck the tractor-trailer head-on, police said. Greene was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Michael Allen, 41, was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with minor injuries.

Police said speed, but not alcohol, appeared to be a factor in the crash.

An investigation is continuing.
