After four straight days of downpours and thunderstorms, the Charlotte region can finally expect mostly sunshine Wednesday.

Temperatures also are falling, as a cooler and drier air mass moves into the region. Wednesday’s expected high of 73 would be 3 degrees below normal.

Highs should remain below normal Thursday and Friday at only 65 and 71. That’s because another cold front is expected to cross the region Wednesday night and usher in an even cooler air mass from Canada.

Clouds could return Wednesday night, with a slight, 20 percent chance of showers between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 4 a.m. Thursday.

Thursday has a 40 percent chance of showers, with the chance decreasing to 20 percent Friday.

A high pressure system should return with warmer weather this weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Greer, S.C.

Saturday and Sunday should be sunny, with respective highs of 79 and 85. Highs of 83 and 85 are forecast Monday and Tuesday, with mostly sun Monday and partly sunny skies Tuesday.
