Aquatic center renovations almost complete

The yearlong renovation of the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center is almost complete.

Thursday, government and swimming officials along with journalists will get a sneak peek inside the swimming venue. The center is scheduled to open to the public on June 1.

Crews began the $8.6 million renovation this past June. of the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center. Renovations include new locker rooms and fitness area, expanded seating and new pool mechanics.

Balfour Beatty is the general contractor.
