Dan Moore has been named interim superintendent of the Catawba County Schools.
The Catawba County Board of Education named Moore to the post at a meeting this week.
Moore has been acting superintendent since Superintendent Dan Brigman left last month.

The board also approved a contract with the N.C. School Boards Association to help find a permanent replacement.
“Mr. Moore has done an outstanding job during the past few weeks and has earned this opportunity,” Board of Education Chairman Marilyn McRee said in announcing Moore’s new role.
“Our board is unanimous in its support for and appreciation of Mr. Moore’s abilities, judgment and caring approach in leading the district until a permanent superintendent is named,” she said.
Moore was the school system’s assistant superintendent of operations and previously assistant superintendent of human resources.
Catawba County Schools has 16,326 students in 28 schools. It is the largest employer in Catawba County, with 2,010 workers.
