A light rain fell in the metro area overnight but had mostly moved east by 6 a.m.
The temperature stood at 49 degrees at 6 a.m. and might hit only 68 by afternoon. Normal highs are in the mid- to high-70s.
Some sun could emerge, but a 30 percent chance of showers continues until 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Greer, S.C.
The clouds should gradually give way to mostly clear skies Friday night. Saturday should be sunny, with a high near 77.
The weather should then turn warmer, with forecast highs of 85 Sunday, 84 Monday and 85 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Sunday and Monday should be mostly sunny and Tuesday partly sunny.
Wednesday and Thursday have a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.
