A Charlotte man was arrested Friday and will be charged with the burglary and sexual assault of an “elderly” woman 32 years ago in west Charlotte, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.
The woman was asleep on Jan. 4, 1984, when she was awakened by a man who’d broken into her house on Camp Greene Street and sexually assaulted, police said.
Before the man left, he also took money from the victim’s purse. Authorities did not say how old the victim was at the time of the assault.
James Hines, 65, was arrested after the case was recently reexamined by CMPD’s Sexual Assault Cold Case Unit.
