Rain to blanket Charlotte region Tuesday

Rain is expected to blanket the Charlotte region Tuesday.

A light rain was falling about 6 a.m. in uptown Charlotte, and showers are likely between noon and 1 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Greer, S.C.

The chance of rain stands at 80 percent throughout the day, with a quarter- to a half-inch possible.

Rain chances should drop to 50 percent Tuesday night, 40 percent Wednesday and 30 percent Thursday and Friday.

Showers are likely again Friday night and Saturday, with the chance at 70 percent, NWS forecasters said.

The rain and clouds will keep temperatures below normal this week.

The normal high for this week is 79. Highs are expected to hit only 73 Tuesday, 75 Wednesday, 69 Thursday and 73 Friday and Saturday.
