Pedestrian jumped from bridge into traffic on I-85 in Gaston County
A woman died early Sunday after jumping from the New Hope Road bridge in Gastonia into northbound traffic on Interstate 85.
The incident was reported at about 3:15 a.m., according to the Gastonia Police Department.
The 27-year-old woman was struck near New Hope Road by a tractor trailer traveling north. The driver did not stop, according to a report from Gastonia police.
Investigators are looking for witnesses. Anyone who can provide information is asked to contact Officer Z. Lechette at 704-866- 6702.
