Hot, steamy week expected ahead of cooler weekend
The official start of summer is still a few days away – June 18 – but the high temperatures and afternoon thunderstorms are arriving ahead of time.
Monday is expected to be sunny, hot and humid, with a high near 88 degrees and a low around 68, according to the National Weather Service.
Tuesday should be even warmer, with a mostly sunny sky and a high expected to reach 91 accompanied by a 20 percent chance of showers.
A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected Tuesday night. The low temperature will likely linger around 75.
The chance for showers increases to 40 percent Wednesday, which is expected to be mostly sunny with a high near 92. The low is expected to be around 74, with the chance for showers dropping to 30 percent overnight.
Thursday’s high will continue climbing to near 93 degrees, with a mostly sunny sky and a 30 percent chance of showers before 5 p.m. The low should be around 74.
The weekend should be mostly sunny with a little relief from the heat on Friday, when the high is expected to be near 89 with a low around 66.
Summer officially kicks off Saturday, which should be even cooler with a high temperature of 79 and a low of around 62.
Sunday should be sunny with a high near 81.
