Fatal wreck closes a portion of Interstate 85

One person died Sunday in a wreck on Interstate 85 south near Interstate 77 in north Charlotte.

The victim was taken to Carolinas Medical Center after the wreck at 2:13 p.m., according to Medic.

Three lanes of traffic were shut down for about two hours, and long delays were expected for southbound traffic, according to N.C. Department of Transportation.
